Cloud

The Cloud instal­la­tion is a metaphor for com­mu­ni­ca­tion: light puls­ing through opti­cal fibers echoes the con­stant flow of infor­ma­tion sur­round­ing us every day. The work explores the rela­tion­ship between art and tech­nol­o­gy, offer­ing a tes­ta­ment to the shift­ing rela­tion­ship between artis­tic expres­sion, the spread of infor­ma­tion, and our chang­ing sen­so­ry perception.

Cloud is made of glass and light-pulsing opti­cal fibers, cre­at­ed in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Lasvit and first unveiled at Milan Design Week 2023, where it drew vis­i­tors’ atten­tion and offered an inter­ac­tive, multi-sensory expe­ri­ence – enhanced by scents and a sound­scape that extend­ed the instal­la­tion into smell and sound as well.

The instal­la­tion was also a tech­no­log­i­cal chal­lenge – it includes over 4,500 indi­vid­ual opti­cal fibers, each giv­en a spe­cif­ic sur­face treat­ment, span­ning a com­bined length of more than 22 kilometers.

Cloud’s pres­ence in Milan also caught the atten­tion of Zech Group, who lat­er acquired the piece for the lob­by of their Bremen head­quar­ters – turn­ing a one-of-a-kind art­work from a design fair into a sym­bol of inno­va­tion and con­nec­tiv­i­ty with­in a cor­po­rate setting.
